Scientific Collaboration Project Between Housing Development and Management-HDM, Lund University, Sweden and Agence de Réhabilitation et de Rénovation Urbaine - ARRU
Objective and content
The objective of the project is the quantitative and qualitative follow up of a building used as a youth club. The aim is to promote local knowledge of construction of buildings adapted to the environment that ensure an acceptable level of thermal comfort and low consumption of energy.
The main objectives are
- Increase the local knowledge of climatic design of buildings.
- Improve the general knowledge of climatic design of buildings.
- Evaluate the influences of occupancy, use of technical devices and management on thermal comfort and daylighting
- Evaluate the positive or negative impact of bioclimatic design on the use of the building.
- Propose technical measures and better instructions on use to improve functional and energy efficiency.
Method
- Quantitative study: continuous measurements of indoor climate and daylight under at least one climatic cycle.
- Qualitative study: analysis of the use of the building by observation and interviews of the users.
- Computer simulations: prediction of the effect of proposed improvements to the building.
Expected Results
- Improve the knowledge of the impact of users on the thermal behaviour of buildings.
- Propose improvements to make it easier to use the technical devices in the building (improvements of construction techniques and instruction for use).
- Recommendations for programming, constructing and installing technical devices in bioclimatic buildings in similar climates.
- Validate a method to audit energy efficiency in institutional buildings.
Duration
The project is planned for 18 months, covering on climatic cycle
